Mr. Russell Oliver, 82, of Killen, passed away Monday, September 27, 2010. The family will receive friends at Elkins East Chapel, Wednesday, September 29, from 6-8pm. The funeral will begin at 11 am, Thursday in the funeral home chapel officiated by Bro. Roger Creecy and Rev. Randy Burbank. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery.
Mr. Oliver is preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Lavada Oliver; brothers, Tommy Lee, Grady, Leo, and Jimmy Oliver; and sisters, Virginia, Eula, Vernacil, Ruth, and Pearl. Mr. Oliver retired from Nafco and was owner and operator of Oliver Sanitation in the Town of Killen. He attended Hickory Flat Free Will Baptist Church.
He loved fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also loved being with his family. Russell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be missed greatly.
He is survived by his wife, Augazell Oliver; children, Steve Oliver (Charlotte), Carol Cox (Jerry), Dwayne Oliver (friend Gina), and Kenny Oliver (Amanda); grandchildren, Haley Hyde (Al), Amy Oliver, Amber Oliver (fianc Todd Rhea), Rustin and Payton Cox, and Luke and Levi Oliver; great-grandchildren, Caden and Zander Hyde; brother, Reeder Oliver (Jean); and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to the Alzheimer''s Memorial Program or the Heart Association in Mr. Oliver''s honor.
