Funeral for Ruth Gibson Hopkins, 90, of Decatur will be Monday, April 16, 2012, at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steven Hampton officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, April 16, 2012, form 12 to 2 at the funeral home with services immediately following.
Mrs. Hopkins, who died at her residence Saturday, April 14, 2012, was born August 11, 1921, in Morgan County to Robert Lee (Big Bob) Gibson and Sarah Ellen Woodall Gibson. Mrs. Hopkins, along with her husband W.L. (Hop) Hopkins, were co-owners of Little Bob Gibson's Bar-B-Que until their retirement in 1983. She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Hopkins Mattox (Russell) of Decatur; 3 grandsons, Mark Mattox (Merrellyn) and Derek Mattix of Birmingham, and Zane Mattox (Mindy) of Decatur; 7 great-grandchildren, Merri-Morgan Mattox, Cole Mattox, Kyle Mattox, Ashley Mattox, Drew Mattox, Tyler Mattox and Christopher Mattox.
Pall bearers will be Harold David Gibson, David Ingram, Don McLemore, Gus Cordonis, Wade Shields, Adam Glover, Art Sanford, and John Paul Hampton.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley or Beltline Church of Christ Christian Service Mission.
