Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Perry Mitchell, age 86, of Florence, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Glenwood Healthcare. Her family and friends had been by her side during her last days.
The visitation will be at Elkins Funeral Home Monday beginning at 12:00 p.m. followed by the funeral at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Jerry L. Rea and Ellis Coats will officiate. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
She was a long-time employee of the Florence Clinic where she worked in the office of Dr. Ranel B. Spence. She had been the owner-operator of Emerald Beach Marina and The Fish Hut restaurant from 1966-1990. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She was a member of the Good Sam Club and enjoyed camping, boating and country music.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by a daughter, Connie J. Townsend and husband Murray, Florence; grandchildren Kelli Elizabeth Townsend and Jay Michael Townsend and wife Kelly Anne; great-grandchildren Layla Anne Townsend and Landon James Townsend; sister Myra McInnish and husband Glenn; brother Jackie Perry and friend Martha Haygood; a special niece Glenna Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Effie Perry and husband James Conrad Mitchell.
Pallbearers will be Mike Perry, Brad Perry, David Wilson, Scott Townsend, Cary Burnley, Ronnie Mitchell, Kenny Moor, and Barry Wood. Honorary bearers will be Almon Truitt, Dock Killen and Fred Bishop, Jr.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Webb and Glenwood Healthcare and Station A & B Staff for eight years of outstanding care and appreciates the faithful visitation and prayers from members of Woodmont Baptist Church.
