Funeral for Ruth R. Ryan, 82, of Decatur will be Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Boling officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Mrs. Ryan, who died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Clay County to John H. Riddle and Flora N. Williamson Riddle. She was an active member in the First United Methodist Church, and was noted for her charity work and her many volunteer activities in the community. Survivors include one son, Robert Ryan and wife Catriona Ryan; one granddaughter, Whitney Ryan; one grandson, Adam Smith; two brothers, Jefferson W. Riddle and wife, Christine, of Huntsville, and Harold D. Riddle and wife, Gloria, of Chattanooga; two sisters, Wynelle Barnes of Dallas, Texas, Anne R. Matthews and husband, Bob, of Ventura, Calif.; and one greatgranddaughter, Magnolia Smith. Pallbearers will be Adam Smith, Shawn McManus, Sidney Morris, Steve O'Shea, John Wyker and Leo Rowe. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
