Samuel H. "Sam" Lowery, 87, of Decatur will be Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Westmeade Baptist Church with the Rev. J.T. Lowery and the Rev. Scotty Hogan officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Caddo Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Mr. Lowery, who died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at Decatur Health and Rehabilitation Center, was born March 3, 1922, in Lawrence County to Jim and Martha Lowery. He was a member of Westmeade Baptist Church. He was very active with the young adults and youth groups. Survivors include one brother, J.D. Lowery of Trinity; two nephews, J.T. Lowery and his wife, Corine, and David Barnes and his wife, Kitty, of Skull Valley, Ariz.; and two nieces, Marleana Castle and her husband, Danny, and Patty Pointer and her husband, Mick, both of Michigan.
