OBITUARY FOR MRS. SARA E. KEETON
Mrs. Sara Elizabeth Keeton, age 78, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at ECM Hospital.
The funeral service will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home with Ronnie Pannell officiating. Burial will follow in Dobbins Cemetery, Appleton, TN. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Keeton was born in Lawrence County, TN. She married her husband, Owen, in 1949 and traveled throughout the world with him for 22 years while he served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired at Homestead Air Force Base, Florida in 1968. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and spent much of her time serving the Lord. She enjoyed cooking and was an outstanding wife and mother.
Mrs. Keeton was preceded in death by her parents, David and Ollie Hood; sisters, Estelle Fox, Mable Shelton, Blanche Massey, Syble Stephens, and Natalie Hood.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Owen Ralph Keeton; daughter, Paula Maharrey and husband, Ben of Florence; son, Owen R. Keeton, Jr. and wife, Carol of Killen; grandchildren, Trey Maharrey and wife Brianna, Madison, AL, Rodney Keeton and wife, SioBhan, Huntsville, David Maharrey and wife, Stacy, Chattanooga, TN, Jade Keeton and fianc, Lakin Pointer, Killen; sister, Sherry Fleming and husband, Uton, Liberty Grove, TN; brother, Lowell Hood and wife Ottie, Five Points, TN.
Pallbearers will be Bubba Fox, Gary Fox, Phil Hood, David Campbell, Ricky Rich, and Travis Harmon.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Florence Nursing and Rehab, Dr. Webb and 6th Floor Nurses & Staff at ECM for the exceptional care and compassion extended to our family. Elkins East Chapel is assisting the family.
