Mrs. Sara Ruth Sayer, age 89, of Florence, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Mrs. Sayer, known affectionately as Sally, had worked at Genesco for 27 years. She was a member of the First Nazarene Church of Sheffield and was a true blessing to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Berry O. Sayer, a son Jimmy Sayer and a grandson Kevin Brown.
The visitation will be Friday at Elkins Funeral Home, Florence, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. followed by a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. at the Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery. Greg Burnett will officiate.
Mrs. Sayer is survived by daughters Judy L. Bruce and husband Millard of Sheffield and Jane Haddock and husband Roger of Florence; son John Sayer and wife Sonia of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Keith Brown and wife Debby of Leighton, Shawn Brown and wife Kelly of Cherokee, John "Bunky" Sayer, Jr. and wife Anna of Houston, Texas, Sara McFarland and husband Todd of Houston, Texas, Daphne Cope and husband Ricky of Houston, Texas, Phillip Sayer of Houston, Texas, Heather Kyle and husband David of Athens, Ashlee Haddock and husband Brad of Florence, and Jacob Haddock of Meridian, Mississippi; nine great-grandchildren; a special niece Janice Hughes of Norris, Tennessee.
Pallbearers will be Keith Brown, Shawn Brown, Jacob Haddock, Brad Haddock, Millard Bruce, David Kyle, Roger Haddock and Alex Goodwin.
