Hatton--- Funeral service for Sarah Nell Dawson Payne, age 81, of Hatton, will be Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Okolona Baptist Church with Brother Terry Settles and Andy Chamness officiating. The family will receive guest from 1:30- 3:00 with service to follow. Internment will be at Fergason Cemetery with Jason Greene and Mickey Brackin providing service.
Mrs. Payne died Thursday, February 14, 2019, at her residence surrounded by family and friends. She was born May 7, 1937 in Hatton, Alabama to Robert L. Dawson and Glapha NeSmith Dawson. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Payne and both parents. She was a homemaker and seamstress by trade. She worked at the Moulton Shirt Factory for 28 years. Mrs. Payne was a member of Okolona Baptist Church in Hatton.
She is survived by one son, Rene' Payne of Hatton, Two daughters, Renita Chamness (Marion) of Hatton, and Carmalita Coan (Randal) of Mt. Hope. Four grandchildren, Andy Chamness (Hope) of Notasulga, Alabama, Wesley Chamness (Chasta) of Hatton, Jesse Coan (Emma) of East Lawrence, and Sarah Elizabeth Parker (Colton) of Hatton. Three Great-grandchildren, Lane Chamness, Adleigh Chamness and Hunter Montgomery.
Pallbearers are grandsons: Andy Chamness, Wesley Chamness, Jesse Coan, Colton Parker, Anthony (Oscar) Kirby, and Vernon Box nephews.
Honoary pallbears: Lane Chamness, Adleigh Chamness and Hunter Montgomery.
