Seymour Bennett Carpenter, Jr., 86, of Florence died Monday, February 6, 2023, at Glenwood Center.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 8, 2023, 1 PM at Elkins Funeral Home with Bart Bowling officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation.

Mr. Carpenter was a 1955 graduate of Coffee High School. He joined the US Army and later graduated from Florence State College with a degree in math and science. He worked for the A.D.O.T. for 47 years as an Engineer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Kyle Carpenter; parents, Bennett and Nell Carpenter; niece, Darlene Carpenter; nephew, Tyler Smith.

Mr. Carpenter is survived by his siblings, Glenn Carpenter (Ruth), Robert Carpenter, Carol Downing, and Nell Bernauer (Louis).
