Funeral for Shelly H. Richardson, 77, of Decatur will be Thursday, June 28, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Parkview Baptist Church with Dr. Todd Evans and Carl Hendrix officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Mr. Richardson, who went to be his Lord on June 26, 2007, was born July 13, 1929, in Montgomery to Shelly H. Richardson Sr. and Delia Pauline Chapman Richardson, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Richardson; and his stepmother, Daisy Richardson. He was retired from the U.S. Army with tours of duty in Korea, Germany and Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for service in Vietnam with Oak Leaf Cluster and received one for action in Korea. After retirement from the U.S. Army, he was self-employed in the hair business for 18 years. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Corrine Nellums Richardson; two brothers, Jesse C. Richardson of Alexandria, La., and Paul M. Richardson of Kennesaw, Ga.; one sister, Lana June Richardson McNair of Dunwoody, Ga.; and one stepsister, Christine K. Thornton of Kingston, Ga. Pallbearers will be military personnel. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Parkview Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Hospice of the Valley or to the Parkview Baptist Church building fund.
