Decatur Funeral for Shirley Anne Snook, 74, of Decatur will be Friday, April 13, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Rich Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Snook, who died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, was born May 9, 1937, in Kansas to Lee Alfred Settle and Mildred Wheeler Settle. She worked for Meals on Wheels. She was also an Mcats driver and a pre-school teacher at Tots and Tykes. She was a member of Ninth Street United Methodist Church. She moved to Alabama in 1963 with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Carolyn Sue Snook; one brother, Larry Settle; one sister, Linda Webb; several nieces and nephews. "Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth in wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the way of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed. Her husband also, and he praises her." Survivors include her husband, Don Snook; two sons, Vernon Snook of Decatur and William "Bill" Snook of Kingsland, Ga.; two daughters, Kathern Addams and Donna Turrentine, both of Decatur; three sisters, Carol McCrakin of Topeka, Kan., Patty Hines of Virginia and Mildred Aich of Kansas; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Logan Ward, James Crowe, Scottie Pearman, Colin Papenburg, Travis Stewart and Jason Dement. Honorary pallbearers will be Staff Sgt. Joshua Lenz and Brad Blackwood.
