Mr. Stanley Lawton, age 94, of Florence, Alabama died at his home in Merrill Gardens Wednesday, November 4, 2009.
A memorial service will be held Monday, November 9, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Fairhope, Alabama.
The Lawton family emigrated from England to West Virginia in 1920. Stan moved to Aliquippa, PA in 1937 after graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of West Virginia. He married Evelyn Voyvodich and raised three children.
After a 40 year career with LTV Steel Corporation, Stan and Evelyn retired and moved to Fairhope, Alabama where they enjoyed 27 wonderful years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jane Berry, and his wife Evelyn. In 2002, Stan moved to Florence, Alabama.
He is survived by two sons, John T. Lawton, Killen, AL and William S. Lawton and wife Marilyn, Lakeland, FL; four grandchildren, Tim Lawton and Jennifer Lawton, Lakeland, FL, Morgan Berry and wife Laura, Birmingham, AL and Ian Berry, Florence, AL; six great-grandchildren, Ava and Scarlett Berry, Martha Berry, and Andrew, Kaitlyn, and Alyssa Lawton.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, a hospice of your choice, or the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio.
