IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tammie
Fairbanks
August 7, 1960 – April 20, 2025
Tammie Adair Fairbanks, 64, of Priceville, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, April 20, in Smyrna, Tennessee.
Tammie was born in Decatur, Alabama, on August 7, 1960. Tammie was a light in her family's lives, who treasured her unique way of being in the world. She was incredibly special to both her parents, who loved her deeply and recognized her as perhaps their greatest gift. Though she was never able to live a "traditional" life, she knew how to live a very meaningful one.
Tammie had a special ability to find unbridled joy in the smallest of things, with possibly her favorite being a car ride, a drive-thru window, and a soda. She loved Christmas year-round – especially opening presents – and would bust out singing "Jingle Bells" without warning. She enjoyed all kinds of music, particularly oldies and holiday songs, memorizing the words and singing along to them at every chance she got. She adored her talking Drowsy doll and would repeat its gentle words, such as "Mommy, I'm sleepy" – even when she wasn't. She loved dogs and cats, but most especially Holly and Ringo. She also loved her huge collection of socks and shoes, putting on flavored lip balm and scented lotion, and having her nails painted in pretty colors.
Tammie was the first to ask "how you?" when you walked into her room and say a loud "thank you!" to everyone who helped her. She laughed readily, clapping and shouting "funny!" at the tiniest of moments. She knew how to celebrate well and how to live a grateful life, and she taught the rest of us a lot about how to do the same. She will be very, very missed.
Tammie is preceded in death by her parents, Gaylon and Reba Fairbanks, and her brother, Stacey Patrick Fairbanks. She is survived by her brother Kelly and his wife Jessica; her brother Greg and his wife Wendy; and her niece Brooklyn.
A shared memorial service will be held for both Tammie and her brother, Patrick, on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Visitation with the family will be from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at Ridout's Brown Service funeral home. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM at Burningtree cemetery with Rev. David Smith officiating.
