Thomas David Westmoreland, 81, of Florence died Friday, July 17, 2015, at ECM Hospital.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Cross Point Church of Christ from 1-3:30 PM. Funeral services will follow at 3:30 PM at the church, with Bro. Frank Mills, Bro. Ken Delano, and Bro. George Barrera officiating. Burial will be at Florence City Cemetery. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Westmoreland was a member and Deacon of Cross Point Church of Christ. He was retired from Reynolds Metals as a Quality Control Engineer. He served in the US Army. He loved working at Cross Point Church of Christ, hunting, golfing, and most of all he was devoted to his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Sockwell Westmoreland and parents, J.T. and Christine Westmoreland.
He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Wooten (Brian); grandchildren, Maggie King (Wes) and Jennie Wooten; great-grandchildren, Lily and Elsa King; sister, Joy Winn (Jim); sisters-in-law, Odelle Sockwell and Sarah McCarty; special friend, Martha Gullett; "Friend Closer Than a Brother" Clifford Miles; bird dog, Scooter; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kelly Henderson, Ron Westmoreland, Ken Westmoreland, Dederick Anderson, Donnie Gullett, Mark Killen, Dr. Jerry Freeman, and Mike Gullett. Honorary pallbearers will be the "Nebraska Bunch" and the Elders at Cross Point.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cross Point Church of Christ Friendship Center.
The family would like to thank David''s long time physician and friend, Dr. Bob Mann. They also wish to thank Dr. Danny McFall, Dr. Felix Morris, Dr. Holden, Dr. Paul, Dr. Wilkes, and the ECM Nursing Staff on 5th floor and in ICU for their dedication and care the last days of his life.
