Funeral for Truman Brown, 85, of Decatur will be Saturday, June 23, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Ridout''s Brown-Service Funeral Home with Charles Littrell officiating. Graveside service with full military honors will be at 2 p.m. in Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Visitation will be tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. Mr. Brown, who died Thursday, June 21, 2007, at Decatur General Hospital, was born April 22, 1922, in Tishomingo County, Miss., to William Thomas Brown and Mary Reed Brown. He served in World War II and went to Europe on the Queen Mary for the United States Army. He came to Decatur in 1961 and worked in insurance for 30 years until his retirement. He enjoyed doing handyman work and landscaping. Mr. Brown was a member of Danville Road Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Brown. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Brown; four sons, Gerald Brown of Snellville, Ga., Bill Brown of Florence, David Brown of Jonesboro, Ga., and Tommy Brown of Decatur; one daughter, Nancy Meek of Beaumont, Calif.; one stepson, Mark Ellett of Huntsville; one stepdaughter, Teresa Russ of Ocala, Fla.; many nieces and nephews; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
