OBITUARY TURNER L.HANNAH
Turner L. Hannah, age 84, passed away July 11, 2009, at his home in Rogersville.
Funeral services for Mr. Hannah will be Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkins East Chapel. Bro. Terry Herston will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be at Ingram-Thornton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-3 prior to service time.
Turner was a laborer for T.V.A. 1949- 1986 and a member of Labor Local 366. He served our country in the 6th Marine Division and was wounded on Okinawa. He was a member of the VFW, DAV and American Legion Post 11. He especially enjoyed delivering Christmas baskets to disabled veterans. Mr. Hannah attended Old Mt. Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed growing a garden and sharing vegetables with family and friends.
Mr. Hannah was preceded in death by Parents, Oscar F. and Mildred L. Hannah: daughter, Cassandra Hannah; Wife Ernestine Hannah.
Mr. Hannah is survived by a son, Andy Hannah and wife, Vickie of Rogersville; grandchildren, Dawn Franklin of Rogersville, Shawn Fortenberry, of Toney. Great-grand-children, Summer Sklar and Amber Sklar of Toney, David "Booger" Franklin of Rogersville; sister, Elgenia Hannah of Florence, and Gertrude Fisher and husband John of Florence; brother-in-law, Edward B. Haraway, Rogersville; sister-in-law, Geraldine White, of Rogersville, Reba Hannah of Florence; numerous nieces and nephews.
The Marine Honor Guard will be pallbearers; honorary pallbearers will be, Phillip Hannah, Ronnie Hannah, Danny Hannah, Hal Harbin, Doug Harbin, Paul Harbin, Ronnie Haraway, James Whitehead, Neal Stevens, and Jerry Kelley.
In lieu of flowers, you may make memorials to Ingram- Thornton Cemetery, or the Pisgah Cemetery. Elkins East Chapel is assisting the family.
