Funeral for Vernaize "Penny" Burnett, 79, of Decatur will be Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wyman Logan and Pastor Jim Schrimsher officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Burnett died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008. She was born April 26, 1929. Her husband, Gerald D. Burnett; and son, Gary E. Burt, preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Wayne Smith; three daughters, Ann Boyett, Tillie Hutchinson and Christy Nichelson; six grandchildren, Denee Sisk, Mark Smith, Rob Smith, Josh Nichelson, Leslie Mitchell and Tiffany Boyett; three great-grandchildren, and brother, Loyed Pendarvis.
