Vernon Gray Tipper, age 81, of Center Star, passed away on Monday January 18, 2010 at ECM Hospital.
Funeral services will be on Thursday January 21, 2010 at 2 pm in the chapel of Elkins East Chapel in Center Star with Bro. Audie Bogus officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday January 20, 2010 from 6 pm until 9 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Tipper is preceded in death by her husbands, Leo Gray and Noble Tipper; her parents, William and Ethel Thigpen Wilson; her sons, Larry and Tim Gray; and her brother, Roy Wilson.
Mrs. Tipper is survived by her sons, Harold Gray and wife Tricia of Florence, and Mark Gray of Center Star; her sisters, Rachel Brooks of Sheffield, and Gaye Brown of Huntsville; her brothers, Clayton Wilson and wife Joyce of Elkhart, IN, Lester Wilson and wife Brenda of Tuscumbia, and Carl Wilson and wife Jean of Ooltewah, TN; her sister in law, Lynn Wilson of Florence; her grandchildren, Jared, Todd, Allison, Chris, Ben, Jamie, and Jennifer; and 9 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Tipper was a devout Christian lady and always shared her love of the Lord with anyone she spoke to. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a friend to everyone she met. Mrs. Tipper was a member of Springfield Baptist Church for many years where she loved to teach Sunday School and participate in Vacation Bible School. She always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and working in her gardens.
