Vernon E. Watkins, 86, ended his wonderful storytelling days and left his old oak tree in the holler on Sunday, April 18, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eveline Frances Campbell Watkins, and leaves behind four surviving children, Glenda Pruitt, Hal Watkins, Deborah Watkins and Christle Blair, as well as seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grand-children; his special friend, Jane Micklow; one brother and five loving sisters.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at Ridout's Brown Service Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Bro. Lavern Lowery and the Rev. Richard Cassis officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Caddo Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family members.
