Virginia Gautney, 73, of Florence died Saturday, March 3, 2012, at her residence. A graveside service will be Monday, March 5, 2012, 2PM at Center Star Cemetery, with Bro. Ashley Pettus officiating. Elkins East Chapel is assisting the family. Mrs. Gautney was a 1956 graduate of Lauderdale County High School. She retired from the Social Security Office as a Claims Representative. Mrs. Gautney was preceded in death by her son, Dwayne Hurn; sister, Margaret Pennington; brother, Jimmy Dison. Mrs. Gautney is survived by her husband Paul Gautney; sons, Tim Gautney (Tammy), Randall Gautney (Sherri), and Russell Gautney (LaDale) and children; grandchildren, Rhyan Hurn, Caleb Gautney, Seth Gautney, Nicholas Gautney, and Stephanie Gautney; three nieces, two nephews, and numerous special friends. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Ralph Aquadro, Amedisys Hospice Services, Northwest Alabama Cancer Center, her caregivers, Vanessa Keenum, Karen Spence, Cathy Burns, Charlotte Byrom, Linda Holden, and Robbie Oldham. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Center Star Community Cemetery.
