VIRGINIA HERSTON MOHR
Virginia Edith Mitchell Herston Mohr (Gin Mohr) a long-time resident of Anniston, Alabama, was born January 10, 1921, and died peacefully June 5, 2011,after 90 rich years. She will be missed deeply. She is survived by her devoted son, Walter Karl Mohr, Jr. and his wife, Frances Newbold Mohr of Stone Mountain, Georgia. Mrs. Mohr also is survived by her sisters, Ruth Herston Carroll of Killen, Alabama, and Laverne Herston Mullican of Crossville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence O. and Susan Mitchell Herston of Mitchelltown, Alabama, and her brother, Robert Harold Herston of Mobile, Alabama. Mrs. Mohr was the loving wife of the late Walter Karl Mohr, Sr. (Wally) of Anniston, Alabama where they met on a blind date and were married for 47 years until his death on May 17, 1988. Mrs. Mohr (affectionately known as Tiny) worked for more than 30 years at the Anniston Army Depot. She was an avid cook with a specialty in homemade chocolates. Mrs. Mohr moved to Stone Mountain, Georgia, in 2009, to live with her son and daughter in law. Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2011, from 6-8PM at the Elkins East Chapel, at 7435 Hwy 72, Killen, Alabama 35645. A service to celebrate Virginia Mohr''s life will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at 10AM at Elkins East Chapel followed by a graveside service at the family plot at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens, in Florence, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts in tribute to Mrs. Mohr be sent to the American Cancer Society. You are invited to sign the on-line guest registry at www.elkinsfh.com.
