Waymon Allen Tidwell, 66, of Killen, AL, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of Atlas Church of Christ, a 1960 graduate of Rogers High School, and a retired Reynolds employee of 32 years. Visitation will be Saturday, July 19 from 6-8 p.m. at Elkins East Chapel. Funeral services will be held at Elkins East Chapel Sunday, July 20 at 2:00 p.m., with Bro. Ronnie Ray officiating. Burial will follow at Cox Cemetery.
He leaves behind a devoted, loving wife of 41 years, Judy; three wonderful children, sons, Gary Tidwell, wife Gina, Brian Tidwell, wife Amy; daughter, Crystal Tidwell; four beautiful granddaughters, Ashton, Madison, Hannah, and Jordon Tidwell. He is also survived by his mother, Ethel Hendrix; brother, David Hendrix, wife Pat, of Channahon, Illinois; special family/friends Cletus Tidwell and Cathy Burns; as well as, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Jason Collier, Myron Svacina, Jon Brown, Jeff Hale, Jim Bell and Jimmy Meadows. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Penney, Steven Raney, and numerous golfing friends.
Waymon was a dedicated husband to his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life. He was an admirable father who instilled valuable life lessons in his children and grandchildren. He was a unique, talented, one-of-a-kind person with an abundance of friends because he first knew how to be one. He will be missed by all who knew him.
