Funeral for William E. "Bill" Britnell, 90, of Decatur will be Thursday, June 13, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Formby of Central United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Britnell, died Monday, June 10, 2013. He was born January 30, 1923, in Decatur to Arthur Edward and Willie Mai Britnell. Mr. Britnell was a lifelong resident of Decatur. He was graduate and "class favorite" from Riverside High School in 1941, where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Ann Blackwell Britnell. Mr. Britnell served his country in both the Army Reserves and Army Air Corps during World War II. He devoted 30 years of work to the Monsanto Company, retiring in 1982, as a maintenance training engineer.
Mr. Britnell accepted Christ at an early age. He served as a committed and faithful member and Sunday school teacher at Central United Methodist Church. He was a very caring and compassionate person and always put the needs of others before his own. He always had a smile on his face and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
