William Franklin
Castile
March 12, 1947 – March 11, 2021
William (Bill) Franklin Castile, 73, of Killen, Alabama passed away March 11, 2021 at North Alabama Medical Center. He was born March 12, 1947 in Corinth, Mississippi to A.P. and Gladys Castile.
Bill was a loving and devoted husband to Louise, his wife and best friend, of 53 years. Together, they forged a path in life, creating a lasting impression and a memory for anyone who met them. He was a wonderful father to his daughter, Cassy, and his son-in-law, Marty.
Bill honorably served his nation during the Vietnam War as a soldier in the 504th Military Police Battalion from 1967-1969. He was a proud veteran who stood for his nation.
Being an avid fisherman was an understatement for Bill. He loved to regale anyone who would listen of the storied "19.2 pound" stringer he and close friend and brother-in-law, Ronnie McDonald, legendarily caught. He could slow roll a spinner bait with the best of them, and toss a finesse worm that could bring out the most finicky bass.
He was a friend to all who knew him, willing to share a "secret fishing spot" (but perhaps not the best spot!), maybe tell a tale, and always have a good time. He was an inspiring uncle and often a "second dad" to all of his nephews and nieces.
Bill was a man of character, strength, and was always exactly who he was. And as he always said, I did it "my way."
