William Butler Gile Jr. Decatur
William Butler Gile Jr., 67, of Decatur died on Sunday, October 31, 2010, at Huntsville Hospital.
A Service of Remembrance will be held for Mr. Gile on Friday November 5, 2010, at 5 p.m. at the Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church with Father Ray Remke officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends on that day from 4 to 5 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Gile was born on December 29, 1942, in Muskegon, Mich., to William B. Sr. and Anna Pastucha Gile. He graduated with a B.S. from Southern Illinois University in 1965, an MS from Southern Illinois University in 1971, an MED from The University of South Alabama, and an Ed.D from The University of Mississippi in 1985. Mr. Gile taught in Missouri and Michigan before going to the Carver Developmental Center in Decatur. He retired from Alabama A&M University in August of 2008. Mr. Gile was a beloved coach at the St. Ann School for over 20 years and at the Boys and Girls Clubs. He enjoyed coaching teams for the Alabama Sports Festival.
Mr. Gile is preceded in death by his parents, William B. Gile Sr. and Anna Pastucha Gile.
Mr. Gile is survived by his wife, Catherine Jan Gile; sons, William B. Gile III and Robert Francis Gile; daughter, Jennifer Ann Gile; and granddaughter, Mollie Katherine MacIlveen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Ann's School or the Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church Building Fund.
