Funeral for Wm Hugh Lee Lauderdale, 91, of Decatur will be Monday, January 2, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rick Eichelberger, Leroy McGaughy, Cecil Green and Dr. Steve Chandler officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Lauderdale, who died Friday, December 30, 2011, was born February 20, 1920, in Toccopola, Miss., to William Boyd Lauderdale and Effie Parham Lauderdale. He was a World War II veteran and was retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding where he was employed for 30 years as a boat foreman supervisor. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Pascagoula, Miss., where he served as an Elder of the Central congregation. In 1993, he and his late wife, Carlene, moved here to Decatur to be near their daughter, Lynda Dover and granddaughter, Kimberly. They attended Beltline Church of Christ where he was a member for the last 18 years of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carlene Lauderdale; and one brother, Qumilla Reid Lauderdale.
Survivors include one daughter, Lynda L. Dover and granddaughter, Kimberly McReath, grandson-in-law, Brian McReath, and two great-grandsons, Drew and Easton.
Pallbearers will be Brad Baker, Eric Sinclair, Dan Truitt, Chad Smith, Preston Peete, Brian McReath, Wayne Baker and Dr. Bob Walker.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Carol Bess, Eloise Byrd, Juanita Alexander and all the Alacare Home Health and Hospice employees.
