William Chase Newbury, 23, of Cherokee, died Monday, March 21, 2011 in Wayne County, Tenn.
Visitation will be Thursday at Elkins Funeral Home, Florence, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Rhodesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Green officiating. The casket will lie in state from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Chase attended Central School and was a hard worker. He loved his family and friends and the outdoors, fishing and hunting.
Chase is survived by his mother Kay Wylie and her fianc Joel Hayes, each of Cherokee; adoptive father Terry Newbury of Florence; biological father Joseph Nix, Jr. of Muscle Shoals; grandmother Margaret Wylie of Cherokee; grandfather Glenn Newbury of Central; grandparents to be Joe and Charlotte Hayes of Cherokee and step brother and sister to be Levi and Dakota Hayes; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a grandfather Clayton Wylie and grandmother Dean Newbury.
Pallbearers will be Terry Newbury, Cory Maxwell, Joe Hall, Heath Wisdom, J.J. Montgomery, and Robert Holland. Josh White, US Army, Iraq, is listed as an honorary pallbearer.
