Obituary

William White O''Steen, 83, died in Florence on Saturday, October 10, 2009.
The family will receive friends at Elkins Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Greenview Memorial Park with the Rev. Mike Pope officiating.
Mr. O''Steen grew up in the Underwood/Petersville area of Lauderdale County and was a graduate of Central High School, attended Florence State College, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a successful businessman and owned and operated City Tile and Marble Co. He was a former member of the Florence Lions Club.
He was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, Florence. He taught Sunday school classes including the Men''s Bible Class, where he was a member for many years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.C. O''Steen, Sr. and by his wife Jane Ann Bartee O''Steen.
He is survived by his wife Bettye Daye O''Steen, Tuscumbia; daughter Janey Lenox and husband Tim, Huntsville; sons Michael O''Steen and wife Peggy, Chris O''Steen, Tim O''Steen and wife Debby, and Kevin O''Steen and wife Catherine, all of Florence; grandchildren Allie and Gracie Lenox, Glenn, Brenna and Will O''Steen, Frances Jane and Emma O''Steen; step-children Bram O''Steen and wife Bonnie, Florence and Patricia Daye O''Steen, Tuscumbia; step-grandchildren Emily Brown, Sara Beth O''Steen, Virginia Daye Winsett and Richard Gamble; step great-great-granddaughter Kate Brown; sister Ann O''Steen Rowe and husband Don, Florence; brothers D.C. O''Steen, Jr. and wife Deedie, Florence, and Dossey O''Steen and wife Bobbie, Florence; nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mr. O''Steen''s four sons, son-in-law Tim Lenox and grandson Glenn O''Steen. Members of the Men''s Bible Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
