William K. "Bill" Suttle, 79, of Florence, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Ala.
Visitation will begin at noon Friday at North Wood United Methodist Church, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. The Rev. Peter Hawker and the Rev. Mark Liddle will officiate. Burial will follow in Pettus Cemetery, Lexington, Ala.
Bill was born to John Earl Suttle and Sarah Eunice Suttle on Dec. 30, 1930, in Winston County, Miss. He attended Rocky Hill Elementary and graduated from Louisville High School, Louisville, Miss., in 1948. Bill served in the U.S. Army at Fort Jackson, S.C., and Camp Atterbury, Ind., Company G, 155th Infantry Regiment, 31st Infantry Division from 1951-52. He received a BS degree in electrical engineering from Mississippi State University, class of 1956. He was employed by TVA from 1956-88. After retirement from TVA, he was employed as a part-time engineer with Eagle Power, of Chattanooga, Tenn.
Bill met and married his wife of 47 years, Ann Morrison Suttle, of Florence. He was a faithful member of North Wood United Methodist Church. He was the treasurer of the Homebuilders Sunday School Class. Bill loved the Lord and his church. It has been said time and time again, for a "quiet man" he could pray the most beautiful prayers. He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and was a multiple-gallon blood donor.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Morrison Suttle; one son, John M. Suttle, Woodstock, Ala.; two brothers, Thomas E. Suttle, Memphis, Tenn., and Robert E. Suttle and wife, Sue, Sallisaw, Okla. He also is survived by several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edward H. Shuttle; sisters, Helen Suttle Duncan, Doris Suttle Bankhead and Sarah Suttle Cousins.
Pallbearers will be Robert O. Moody, Robert Kephart, Curtis Franks, Ray Halcomb, Bill Boozer and Glen Murks.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to North Wood United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association .
