Willie Ray Hood, age 78 of Moulton, died on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.   Willie was born January 15, 1945 to the late Leldon and Mavis Hood in Lawrence County Alabama.  Visitation will be Sunday, December 31 from 1-2:30 PM at Elliott Funeral Home with service to follow.  O.D. Bowling and Ben Phillips Officiating. Burial at Moulton Memory Gardens.

He preceded in death by his spouse, Anita Preuit Hood married for 43 years (married on April 17, 1966) and daughter Angie Adair and husband Wayne of Moulton.

He is survived by children: Bryan Hood and wife Karen, of Moulton, Kay Johnston and husband Paul of Keithville, La. .  A brother, Thomas Hood of Moulton.  Six grandchildren and Eight great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Moulton Church of Christ.  He graduated from LCHS in 1964, where he played football. He was also a member of the National Guard from 1964 to 1970. He retired from Amoco BP with 32 years.  He was also a member of the Echota Cherokee Tribe.

He was a true example of true loving, Christian husband, daddy and Granddaddy.  He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports and other school activities.

Pallbearers will be Tanner Hood, Zeke Wallace, Matt Montgomery, Chad Mote, Miles Hooper and Rickey Naylor.
